9 October Speaker – Peter Maire

In 2001 Peter Maire rebranded Talon Technology as Navman (a brand name bought from Plastimo for $1) and won a government research grant to develop in-car GPS navigation.  By 2004 Navman’s revenue exceeded $100 million, eventually being bought-out by Brunswick, a New York Stock Exchange-listed manufacturer of marine and recreation equipment.  In 2016 Peter established Tahia Investments, taking a 20% shareholding in GPS Crystal manufacturer Rakon and investing in several other high-tech companies including Orion, Cadmus and Fusion.  Peter is also Chair of the Invenco Group Ltd, which is a developer, manufacturer and marketer of retail automation systems and outdoor payment terminals for the petroleum industry.  The title of Peter’s speech will be ‘Going Global’.
