Last week I attended the 2019 RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) dinner with Brett O'Riley and Ann Tod.  Our club sponsored 5 young adults to attend the 7 day leadership training course which was run by Halfmoon Bay and Pakuranga Clubs, in partnership with the NZ Army, at Willow Park.  Our own member Elbert Angkiriwang, Director of Youth,  attended this year’s course, and was very excited about the leadership experiences he gained through the week.

Before attending the course, attendees have to go through an application process and interview to be selected for the course.  The 118 people that came to the 2019 course are an amazing group of young adults who are already making an impact through their lives in the workplace and in the community.  They are energetic, enthusiasts with a sense of their potential as young leaders.  The Rylarians of 2019 give me a great sense of comfort that the future leaders of our nation of are of such a high calibre.

When the course registrations open again for the 2020 RYLA, keep the young adults in your families, work places and network in mind to encourage them to attend this course which is a life changing experience that links a group of young leaders together for their lives.

I would also like to congratulate Pam Clarke for receiving two Paul Harris Fellows at last week’s District Changeover, for all her work at District level over the last few years.  Congratulations Pam!

Our speaker today is Jamie Sinclair, who is the CEO of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Trust, having previously been the Deputy Chief Executive of its development arm.  I hope you can join me at lunch today to hear this interesting speaker and about the future plans for this Trust.

Regards
Craig Brown

RCA LinkedIn Update
We have decided to increase the Club's presence on LinkedIn by creating a public LinkedIn page that can be accessed by anyone - rather than the "closed" LinkedIn Group we currently have, which can only be accessed by invitation.  We will therefore be closing the old Group down.  For those of you in the old LinkedIn Group, we hope you will take the time to transfer to our new page.  If you are not currently connected to the Club through LinkedIn, now is your opportunity to do so.  Simply click on the link below and then click the follow button. We hope you will enjoy the fresher look and content of our new page - https://www.linkedin.com/company/rotary-club-of-auckland/
