What an interesting and entertaining breakfast meeting this morning with the Minister of Finance, The Hon Grant Robertson.
I thought the Minister articulated the Government’s agenda particularly well, as it sets out to measure New Zealand’s economic performance through a wider lense than traditional financial measures. It’s ambitious and probably world leading, and will make our national priorities clear for all to see.  Thanks to those members who attended and helped raise money for “Give Every Child a Future”.  A great chance to showcase this project in front of the Minister, given the Government’s increased focus on Pacific Island development.
Next week we are not meeting on Monday, instead we have our networking lunch on Wednesday, again at the Heritage Hotel - I look forward to seeing you there.
We have also had the final presentations from the four Massey University business school teams, on future business model options for our Club. They came through with some great ideas and innovations, which we will discuss as a Board, and with Members.
We must collectively as a Club arrest the continued decline in attendance at our meetings, or change the model. The four Massey team reports offer some options to address this, but also ideas to develop the Club further in new directions, while staying focused on our core goals and values. It is going to be an interesting process for all of us.
Hei kona mai,
Brett O'Riley

Ak City Mission Volunteering Update
Earlier this month a number of Club members and friends packed family food boxes for the Auckland City Mission.  A great morning was had by everyone, and three hours after starting, there were 140 full boxes waiting for distribution.  Many thanks to everyone who was involved and special thanks to Monika Levinson for organising this event.
ROMAC Hosts Needed
The Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children, otherwise known as ROMAC, last year brought 27 children to Auckland for life changing surgery.  This was only made possible by the generosity of Rotary people in hosting the children and their carer’s.  We are now looking for more Rotary hosts so as not to exhaust the kindness of our willing people.  Our families all stay at Ronald McDonald House in the grounds of Auckland and Starship Hospitals.  The role of the host is to meet them at the Airport along with some ROMAC people and take them into Ronald McDonald House, where they will be shown around by the staff.  Food has to be bought and maybe some warm clothes.  Appointments will be set for the patient and they will need accompanying to these appointments and also on surgery day.  Tickets for the Zoo, Sky Tower and Kelly Tarlton’s are available.  If you would like to help with this amazing programme or would like some more information, then please contact Barbara Watt from the Rotary Club of Henderson, who is the Rotary Liaison person for ROMAC on (09) 820 5535 or mobile 027 47 22237.
