As the season of the Credit Card heats up, we are often stressed out by looking for gifts to buy family or friends at this time of year.  It is not a surprise that the Silly Season really gets going on the famous American Black Friday (or probably better described as the Day After),  when post-Thanksgiving sales put US retailers into a frenzy.  New Zealand is not immune to the Black Friday sales, and over the last couple of years we have been offered amazing deals from retailers keen to separate us from our money before Christmas Day.  As Rotary members, it is always a good time to reflect on how we have had an impact on our society over the last year.  Take the time to look outwards and consider the achievements that you have made this year as you contribute to the club and our programmes.

This week’s speaker is David Johnson from NZX listed company Precinct Properties who among other projects are currently building Commercial Bay at the lower end of Queen Street.

Also, a reminder, we are gathering for our Year End Christmas Bowling on 9th December at the Auckland Bowling Club from 5pm onwards.  Please let Jacqui in the office know if you wish to attend.

Christmas Puddings
It is that time of year again to think about getting organised for Christmas and what better way to start, than by ordering some Rotary Christmas Puddings, whether for yourself or to donate to a worthy cause, or both.  These puddings are still $20 each, with $5 being donated to our Club, so please contact me if you would like to place an order – they can be purchased in any quantity (and come in cartons of six).  And if you would like to donate some to a worthy cause, we will be giving any pudding donations this year to the Auckland City Mission.  Please contact Jacqui in the office to place your order.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay, the Bangers to Bluff Car Rally is approximately 2500km travelling on ‘roads less travelled’, from 24 March to 4 April 2020.  The cars (bangers) need to have cost less than $2000 and will drive from Half Moon Bay in Auckland, through to Bluff and then back to Invercargill, where they will be auctioned off.  This event is now in its fifth year and the 12-day event raises funds for a number of charities.  For more information go to www.bangerstobluff.co.nz or email rod@cookes.net.nz
