World Press Photo Exhibition

Our core project each year is bringing the World Press Photo Exhibition to Auckland.

Run since 2010, the exhibition is used to raise money for a range of local charities. It is also an opportunity for our Club members to volunteer at the event.

With COVID-19 we have unfortunately had to postpone for the last two years but we hope to be back up and running again in 2023.

Volunteering
Regular volunteer events are organised such as cooking at Ronald McDonald House, helping to sort clothing and donations at the Auckland City Mission and packing Emergency Response Kits (ERKs) for the Pacific Islands.

Golf fundraiser

Since 2008, the Club has run a golf invitational fundraising tournament as a successful way to raise for further charitable works.

It is also a fun day out and a bit of healthy competition amongst the serious golfers!

Scholarships and youth programmes

The Club supports a number of scholarships and youth programmes including -

  • Jubilee scholarships
  • JR McKenzie Trust scholarships
  • The Group Study Exchange Programme for Rotary International
  • RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly

We also provide the following awards:

  • Trophy of Tradition for Nursing
  • Medical Rotary Scholarship
RYLA

The Club has both organised, and regularly funds candidates to attend, RYLA
– the Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly.
Rotary International
At international level the Club supports (amongst other worthy projects) the Rotary Foundation and the Polio Plus programme. Collectively these have distributed hundreds of millions of dollars towards education, health and support of the handicapped, underprivileged and hungry throughout the world.

The Polio Plus programme, launched in 1985, aims to immunise all of the world's children against polio.  To date over two billion children have benefited. Working with the World Health Organisation, UNICEF and the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, Rotary has contributed nearly US$700 million to keep alive the dream of a polio-free world.
